Hey folks, and welcome back to another post on Stardew Valley!

Now, I know that I wrote a post earlier on fishing, but I felt I could have done a lot better. As I played further into the game, I found a few other handy things and I felt would help you out as you fish.
With that being said, here are some more Stardew Valley fishing tips to feast your eyes on!

Different Fish depends on Season

This is perhaps one of the biggest things to know when it comes to fishing in this game. You’ll find a variety of different species of fish at certain times of the year.

Fish at different times of the day

One thing that you are going to want to keep an eye out is your clock. Depending on the time of day, you will actually catch different kinds of fish. It is very critical to fish at all times of the day so that you can collect every single one, as these will be handy for completing the community center.

Just as with the seasons, I will be including the details of the time in the above links.

Fish at different locations

It’s probably no surprise that the fish you find in the ocean are different from the fish you will find in freshwater, but did you know that you can find fish in other places?

For example, as you proceed through the mines, there will eventually be a few pit stops along the way where you will find ponds, and sure enough, you can fish there. You can expect to find a variety of different kinds a fish found nowhere else in the game.

As if freshwater fish weren’t diverse enough, it actually does matter whether you catch fish in the woods, in town, or in the mountains. These places will also have a variety of different kinds of fish.

You can even fish inside the sewers, but unfortunately you will not be able to have access to the sewers at the start of the game. You’ll have to help complete the Museum before you can unlock the sewers.

Take your time through the game!

Remember that this game is not intended to be sped through. There are certain fish that can only be found as you progress further in the game, so don’t fret if you miss them all in your first year.

Also, remember to keep at least one of every fish. You’re going to want those when you start working on restoring the community center.

Don’t avoid fishing!

While fishing has always been criticized for being very hard, it is actually one of the easiest ways to make money in the game, and can really help get your farm up and running in the first few days. What’s even better about this is that fishing will get easier as you improve.

Improving your Fishing Skill will drastically make an improvement in the long run.

High Fishing skill = longer casting distance

This is important when it comes to catching better quality fish. The longer your casting distance, the more likely that you’re going to catch these better fish, not to mention there are some fish that can only be caught once you have reached a high enough level.

Cook meals to boost your skill

In the beginning, fishing has a very steep learning curve, which is why a lot of fans either hate it or love it. Some crafting recipes will actually provide a boost to your skills, which can really help when trying to reel in the harder to catch fish.

If you’re short on crafting materials, you can buy a meal from Willy at the fishing store.

Use your movement controls

If you press your movement keys while casting your line, you can actually control where your fishing bobber will land in the water. This will allow you to guide your bobber into deeper waters where you can expect catch better quality fish.

Keep an eye out for fishing bubbles

As you fish, you will find the occasional spots of water where there are lots of bubbles. If you cast your line in these places, they act as instant bait, and you’ll get a bite very quickly. They only last a short while, so get them before they’re gone!
