Site Redesign on the way!

Hey folks!

Just a head’s up that there will be some maintenance being done on my website over the next week or so. That being said, you may run into some minor glitches here and there while visiting the site. If you’re interested in knowing what’s being done, feel free to read on for more details!

Category Overhaul!

As you can probably see from the category under which this post is labeled, I now have a Blog section, where I will document anything unrelated or otherwise inconsequential to your experience on the site (unless you like reading into unnecessary information).

I will admit, I have been busy over the last week since my last post. I’ve been busy with personal things that have kept me from putting a lot of time into this website. I’ve been building another website not relating to gaming. It’s all about food! If you’re interested, you can find it here.

So far, I like what I have done with it. It’s nice and clean, and the categories that I’ve made allow for anyone to find exactly what they are looking for.

Looking back at Videogame Guy, the site’s overall framework is very clunky. I’ve got a bunch of dropdown menus that all point to a page for all of the many consoles out there. The more I delve into things, some of these pages haven’t been touched in months. It’s hard on the eyes!

And then there’s the categories. To give you an idea of how bad it is, I clicked on the Console page at the top. It took me to an old page talking about consoles, and had links to the Xbox One, PS4, etc. When I clicked on Playstation 4… The results show Nintendo Switch news… Not something an avid PS4 fan wants to see, right?

Therefore, I’ve decided to do away with this idea, and will be revamping the way you navigate the menus for a more user-friendly experience. The menu is going to be clean, concise, and take you right to the content. I have a search box for all of the specific details, so there’s no sense in having to click through all of the pages just to find what you are looking for.

A New Look!

Going in tune with the revamped categories, it will probably make sense for me to have the site be rebuilt to accommodate these things. Going forward, you may see a few different things. There may be duplicate pages and menus, but I won’t be removing any content.

I will be experimenting with a few themes. I’d like to keep things looking the same, but if I see one that looks better, I’ll make use of it!

So what do you think? Feel free to let me know in the comments down below! I welcome any constructive criticism!
