Best Nintendo Switch Bluetooth Adapter

For today’s post, we will be talking about the best Nintendo Switch Bluetooth adapter, some honorable mentions, and where to find them. We’ll also cover some things to consider if you are looking to get an adapter for your Switch.

As the years go by, people of all ages continue to enjoy the Nintendo Switch, an awesome hybrid console that can be played on a TV or on the go. But despite its portability, there is one feature that is not included, and that’s Bluetooth.

These days, if people want to play on consoles and PCs using headsets or earbuds, it is just a simple matter of pairing your gear with a console, which is something that, for some reason, is not standard on Switch.

While it is true that the Switch eventually got Bluetooth support, the truth is it still lacks in features: for starters, you can only connect one headset and only 2 wireless controllers (not factoring in the joy-cons). And so, as a workaround, people need to use an adapter that plugs into the console directly in order to pair up headphones.

This post is essentially a buying guide to help you get some information on everything you need to know about Bluetooth adapters for the Switch, their pros and cons, and whether or not they might be worth their price.

There’s a lot of options out there, so to help ensure that you have all the right information to make that choice, we have ranked the best Bluetooth adapters into 4 categories: our Top Pick, the Premium Pick, the Budget Pick, and the Runner Ups.

Keep in mind that the prices were accurate as of writing and may differ by country, so feel free to check out Amazon directly for more details. I will try to keep this list updated with anything new that comes up, so feel free to check back often.

The Best Bluetooth Adapters At a Glance

Here’s a quick summary of our top 3 recommended products. If you’d like more details, feel free to keep reading below.

HomeSpot Bluetooth Audio Adapter: The Best Overall Choice

    The GoodThe Bad
    + Dual-channel audio
    + Internal microphone
    + Compatible with other devices
    + Comes in many colors!
    – It can’t fit over some protective cases

This adapter takes the first spot because of what it offers combined with its good price point. Almost designed to look exactly like something that matches the color of your Switch, this device plugs into the bottom of your console with a USB-C connection, and then you can pair it up with your devices at the press of a button.

It even has a microphone built in, that way, you can take advantage of online voice chat when the situation calls for it.

The one big issue I have with this product is the fact that you cannot use it on a console while it has a protective case installed. The adapter is designed to fit alongside the bottom of the console, so a case is sadly out of the question.

    Genki Audio: The Premium Pick

    The GoodThe Bad
    + Seamless plug and play
+ Also has a mic to allow for voice chat
+ You can connect two devices
+ Passthrough charge port allows you to keep your + Switch charging!
    – It also can’t fit over protective cases

Much like the HomeSpot adapter that came before it, the Genki Audio checks all of the boxes except it has one extra feature; it has a secondary USB-C port, allowing you to connect your Switch to power to ensure that your battery stays full.

Just like my top pick above, one big issue with this product is again, the fact that it can’t be used with a protective case.

ZIOCOM Bluetooth Adapter: A Good Low Cost Option

    The GoodThe Bad
    + It’s cheap!
    + Dual-channel audio
    + Compatible with other devices
+ It can fit over some cases
    – It doesn’t have an internal microphone

If you are looking for the bare minimum, then you can’t go wrong with this Bluetooth adapter from ZIOCOM. Unlike my previous two picks, this one has a slightly longer USB-C port, which means that it can actually be used with some cases. Your mileage may still vary depending on the size of your case.

The only issue I have with this adapter is the lack of an internal mic, meaning the only way you will be able to make use of voice chat is to have a gaming headset that has a microphone.

    The Runner Ups

For some reason or another, the following products did not make the top 3. These products may stand out on a unique feature of their own, so I’ll list them here for your perusal.

GuliKit Bluetooth Adapter for Nintendo Switch

One thing I like about this one is the fact that it has a USB-C to USB-A adapter that lets you connect the actual Bluetooth adapter to the Switch dock. Essentially, this one gives you TV mode support. They also sell a variant that comes with a microphone dongle that you plug into the Switch’s aux port.

    DRILI Bluetooth Adapter

    GENKI Audio Lite

If you have a Switch Lite, and are looking for a “Premium” Pick, you might want to consider this one. The Audio Lite was designed to be used with the Nintendo Switch Lite. Furthermore, the adapter was also made to be compatible with GENKI’s own protective case, which you can find here.

Things to Consider when getting a Bluetooth Adapter

Before you even think of getting one, it is very important to consider the following points when buying Bluetooth devices. The last thing you need is to order it and find out that it doesn’t quite do the job you were hoping for.

    Price

Price is always among the most important factors to consider when buying any kind of electronics online. For the most part, Bluetooth adapters really only have one function, so if you are only looking for something that does the job, without the need for bells and whistles, it’s really unnecessary to buy the most expensive product out there. With Amazon, thankfully, you are able to compare prices from different sellers and settle on the most favorable one.

    Brand

The other thing to check when buying from Amazon is the brand name. In general, I have always had a good experience with the official brands when it comes to gaming in general, but they can often be pricey. That’s where you might be willing to consider an off-brand or third party seller. Different sellers sell a number of different brands out there, however, and it is important to understand each brand in order to make the right choice.

    Function

Perhaps the most important thing to consider is the functionality; does it do the job? As I mentioned earlier, Bluetooth adapters need to be able to connect your audio devices to your Switch. You can always check the specs and compare it with others too.

    Customer Feedback

Most of the time when shopping online, you can usually expect shoppers to leave some feedback on a given product. The reviews are always displayed on the product page, and looking at these reviews is a good idea to see if the particular product you are looking to buy is a good or bad one. Personally, I always like to go with products that have a lot of reviews or ratings, because these are often left by verified buyers who can vouch for the quality of a given product.

    The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, almost any kind of Bluetooth adapter will work to give you the option of listening to your games wirelessly. While some may cost more or less, depending on the brand or features, you’ll want to look around to find the one that best suits your needs.

It’s not the most exciting accessory, but it can be a great deal of help if you are looking to enjoy some Switch gameplay without the need for noise in the home. I like to stay up a little late at night, and as much as I’d love to hear that sound out of my TV speakers, you can’t expect to play a game late at night and not wake somebody up. Playing wirelessly is an excellent workaround.

Anyways, I hope this post was helpful for you. If you have any questions or thoughts to share, feel free to leave a comment down below.

Thanks for reading, and until next time, happy gaming!

    How we do our Rankings

As you heard above, we have organized our list of the best products into 4 distinct categories, each of which is designed to give you the most information when making that decision to buy.

The Top Pick is, simply put, the best value product. When we look for the best, we are looking for something that is high quality, a reasonable price among others, and very little cons or drawbacks. If you are just getting started, this would be our best entry-level choice.

The Premium Pick would be our top pick if it wasn’t for the hefty price tag! When we choose a product to be a premium pick, we are looking for something that has all of the points required for our Top Pick, but also has a few extra things that justify the higher price.

The Budget Pick is our best option for those who are looking for a cheap <Product Category>. This pick is the one that has what we are looking for, but delivers in a way that doesn’t break the bank.

Finally, we have the Runner Ups. For some reason or another, these products did not make the top 3, but this does not necessarily mean that they are bad, they just didn’t check all of the boxes, so to speak. That being said, they might have some unique features that make them stand out among the other options, which we’ll gladly point out in our list. The more you shop around, the more you notice that there is something for everyone, and by adding alternatives, it ensures that we are doing our due diligence to provide you with as many options as possible.
