Redesigning the Website… Again!

Hey folks! I am once again redesigining the website. This post is going to be a long one, so sit tight and be patient. This is going to be a rather lengthy rant about my thoughts on what I have planned for this website. If this stuff doesn’t interest you, feel free to skip this post. For you interested readers, feel free to read on.

First off, I’d like to take a moment to explain my rather infrequent posts, activity, and lack of communication on the site. It’s recently come to my attention that I have been getting a lot of emails and requests, and sadly, I’ve been so busy that I haven’t been able to promptly respond.

The reason for my lack of activity is fairly simple. You see, this is a website I work on as a hobby. I have a full time job that already keeps me busy during the day, and sadly, my other offline endeavors have kept me so occupied that I haven’t been able to make the time to work on Videogame Guy. For those who have been sending messages and not getting a response, I apologize for the lack of communication. As much as I appreciate the requests that have come my way, I’m afraid this site will be a one man show, and will probably remain so until I find more time to work on the site.

What about the future of this site?

As you can no doubt assume from the title, I am planning of another redesign for the website. As much as I like my layout and the logo, it just doesn’t quite feel like the kind of look I was going for. But this redesign is more than just a new coat of paint; I’d like to renovate the whole house, in a manner of speaking.

As some of you may not be aware, I originally got my start making a website about video game accessories (you can check it out here, but fair warning, it’s not very active!). The idea was to write product reviews on the many gadgets and gaming accessories out there that looked cool and provided the best value for one’s gaming endeavors. This was mostly a test to see how well I could do with a small niche website. The only problem here is I’ve got a crazy a passion for games, and so it seemed weird that I wouldn’t cover video games. And so Videogame Guy was born.

I had plans on carrying on the same idea of writing product reviews, except this time, I was covering games as well as other video game products. In the beginning, it was more of a blog than anything else, though. I talked about the games of my past mostly, as well as any current games I’ve been playing.

The more and more I worked on this site, the more I thought about how I wanted this site to look in the future. I thought to myself, “Why not have a one-stop spot for *all* things gaming?”

I tried to find inspiration from the other big game websites, but most of what I see are mostly ad-filled, clickbait articles. Now, not all of them, mind you, but I still had trouble finding these gems.

In a perfect world, I’d like to provide site visitors with information on all of the games out there, from news, to guides, to cheats, and whatnot. Clear, easy to access content. No one should have to skip through a bunch of pop up ads or clickbait to find what they are looking for. That is the future I’d like to see for Videogame Guy.

So, what’s the takeaway from this post?

For now, this is still a relatively small website. I’d like to focus on making better quality content so that I can help you readers get the most out of your games. Maybe if things start turning around, I may consider going full time, maybe changing the name of the website, perhaps?

If you have read all of this, I’d like to thank you for your time in reading this rather massive block of text. In my opinion, it always feels good to get things off the chest, and I always appreciate when someone takes the time to read what I have to say. If you have the time, I’d love to hear your thoughts in a comment down below. It shows me that you read all that I have to say, and truth be told, shows that you care. And that makes me happy.

Now, time to get back to my crazy busy IRL life! Happy gaming!
