NES Classic Game Console Makes a Return!

The NES is Nintendo’s classic game console from the 1980’s. It is the console that brought the gaming industry out of a massive crash, and changed the way we play games today. And now, Nintendo has announced that it plans to bring back the NES for all to enjoy. On November 11, 2016, we will get to enjoy our favorite games once more.

‘Member your Childhood?

While most kids were watching cartoons on Saturday morning, I was playing Super Mario with my younger brother. As mentioned in previous posts, I hold the classic console very dear to my heart. Maybe I’m just wearing nostalgia goggles, but it truly was a great system for its time.

This upcoming console is perhaps the perfect love letter to all of those collectors out there, the ones who love the old games as much as I do.

The List of Classics

At a glance, here are the 30 games you can expect to play on the new system:

  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Metroid
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Dr. Mario
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • Balloon Fight
  • Excitebike
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Mario Bros.
  • StarTropics
  • Bubble Bobble
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Double Dragon II: The Revenge
  • Final Fantasy
  • Galaga
  • Ghosts’n Goblins
  • Gradius
  • Mega Man 2

My Final Thoughts

Seeing things like this gives me hope for the future. Most game companies continue to move forward and leave their classics behind, but Nintendo continues to stay true to their roots.

Perhaps they will consider a Classic Edition of their SNES console next? Only time will tell…

Until the next time, I wish you all the best moving forward, and happy gaming!
