Pokémon GO Community Day June 2019
The next Pokémon GO Community Day is going to be on June 8 this year, on a Saturday. As with every Community Day so far, the event lasts from from 3-6 pm local time zone, and will feature Slakoth.
During the event, Slakoth will spawn at a higher rate than usual, making this event a good opportunity to catch more of this rare Pokémon.
Of course, there will also be a higher chance to discover Slakoth in its Shiny form. If I remember correctly, the estimated odds of scoring a shiny are 1 in 25 on a Community Day, so you’ll want to try and get as many as you can.
To help making the day more fun for lazy Pokémon trainers, Lures will be extended to 3 hours, as is the usual case on Community Day. Another thing coming to this day is a change in Egg Incubators; they will hatch eggs in a quarter of the usual time. I definitely would suggest waiting until this day to start using up your Super Incubators, if you have some saved up.
From what I’ve heard, Slakoth that are evolved into Slaking during this event might be getting a unique move, but I have yet to hear about what it will be.
How is Slaking in Battle?
To be honest, Slaking isn’t very good at battling in gyms and raids. While it does have a very high max CP (even higher than Mewtwo!), this can be deceptive. First off, it only has no Fast Moves; only Yawn. The only way it can deal damage is with a Charged Move.
On the other hand, however, Slaking is a pretty solid gym defender. It has good Defense stats, and a high HP, and while not in the same ballpark as Blissey, it is a good Pokémon to leave in a gym. With all of that being said, the only time I can see Slaking being viable in a raid is to use it as a last resort anchor for your team. During a raid battle, the battle continues for as long as there is at least one Pokémon in the battle, and so a high-CP Slaking could be used, while your teammates heal up their Pokémon and jump back into the raid battle.
Personally, this is one of the few rare Pokémon that I have only ever found when hatching eggs, so it will be a good opportunity to catch this lazy guy, and I’m sure that many others out there will be happy for the chance as well.
